Stargirl Season 1
Episode No 6 Review And Recap
Stargirl returns this week with another exciting episode as our team finally comes together to take on the Injustice Society. With a really smooth fight sequence at the end and a lot of promise, Stargirl kicks it up a notch for its latest episode.
Episode 6 of Stargirl begins with Larry and Paula, two members of the Injustice Society, killing their school coach. The act twists Jordan's hand, who tells them to get their suits - and they're back in action that very night. Courtney, meanwhile, walks in dressed as Stargirl at the end of the night.
Pat confronts him to retrieve various items from the Society, where the truth is finally revealed about his new recruit. Pat warns that this is a dangerous path and asks him to bring the items back before they kill him.
In the morning, Pat leaves to talk to Rick and get the hourglass back. At the same time, Courtney finds herself in a difficult position when she has to retrieve the tools from her schoolmates, who are attached to their new identities. Beth and Yolanda don't take kindly to his request and walk away—the exact reaction Pat gets.
Back at the school, Jordan sends Steve to tell Paul and Larry to get ready. Steve, casually known as The Gambler, works behind the scenes and pulls the strings. After giving them his orders, he walks away as he plans his role in the upcoming mission.
Courtney talks to the girls after school, but Rick comes over and agrees to get together and forget about Pat. Reluctantly, Corutney agrees to follow them, but reminds the trio that they need to hide their identities.
When Pat returns home, he finds that Courtney is still out and immediately suspects that she is with others. As she rushes out, Courtney teams up with Rick, Yolanda, and Beth (now in their new costumes) to infiltrate the facility. Just as the team walks in, they run into Paula and Larry. Their super brave characters are Tiger and Sportsman, which leads to a fight between them all.
After a well-choreographed fight and the realization that they have the upper hand, Tiger and Sportsman Pat come and save the day, leaving. Back at the garage, Pat tells Courtney that he and the others must train to face the future.
Meanwhile, Jordan gathers the Injustice Society and talks about the satellite codes the Gambler was able to access. However, for Project: New America to revive, they need Brainwave. For now, they'll be content with finding out who the new Justice Society is, which is where the episode ends.
With so much promise for an exciting second half of this season, the fight at the end is worth the payoff after a few episodes dedicated to building this team. The choreography is also excellent and the visual effects help ground the feeling, while also being fantastic.
Courtney trying to control her team is a nice exercise, and I'm sure it will be a bit of a slow burn throughout the season as different members start training. I would imagine that these skirmishes will continue throughout the various episodes until all hell breaks loose and the teams complement each other. So far so good though and the door is left open for future episodes.
