Stargirl DC Universe New Show Season 1 Episode No 8 Recap And Review

Stargirl Season 1

Episode No 8 Review And Recap

After last time's cliffhanger, Stargirl returns this week with a sequel to the superhero drama. With less fighting this time around and more character development for most players involved in the story, Stargirl provides a welcome follow-up to last week's cliffhanger ending.

After last week's big fight, Stargirl episode 8 opens with Courtney crashing Pat's car to hide her injuries. When he wakes up battered and bruised in the hospital, Pat explains what happened and finally takes him home. Once there though, he finds himself in a difficult position trying to calm everyone down; After a heart-to-heart with Courtney's crew, an awkward confrontation with Barbara ensues over Courtney's injuries.

The Dragon King is enraged when he learns of the latest episode of Cindy's battle. Threatening to take off her hood, Cindy can be confrontational, but she knows when to back off and stop. This sees him retreat upstairs and ponder the best way forward.

Back at the garage, Beth and the others get into a heated argument about how to avenge their friend. The plan they come up with involves the group going to Cindy's house. Things quickly take a turn for the worse as Pat has a hard time pretending to be Beth's father.

This is enough to bring them home, where Beth learns that Cindy's mother is not at all like her, and even discovers the Dragon King's underground lair. He doesn't investigate too deeply - which he does - and instead goes to Cindy's room, where he finds a photograph of a scientist who may hold some clues to progress.

Cindy goes over to the Courtney's and she's not the only one who sneaks into the house as she apologizes for her behavior regarding Cameron and their plan to restructure. Courtney is wary though – it's definitely a smart move as Cindy finally drops her facade and reveals the truth that she knows Courtney is a Stargirl and vows to follow her in the future.

Cindy doesn't have to wait long, though, as she returns home and immediately finds herself spoiled by the superhero. Their fight spills out into the street where Henry comes from and acts as a proverb.

Most of the episode saw her powers start to manifest and they spread in the messiest way possible thanks to the wave blasting Courtney and Cindy across the street.

As the Dragon King's henchmen take Cindy to the sewers, Courtney realizes that Henry has her Father's powers. As the camera pans, the Dragon King follows and he learns the same fact. Henry may be the missing component for the JSA's world-ending experiment in the future. For now, the episode ends with a lot of questions about it.

  Review Writing

With so many unanswered questions and so much drama to chew on this week, Stargirl delivers another great episode here. The big takeaway comes from Cindy knowing Courtney's true identity, which will almost certainly lead to some trouble going forward.

Believe it or not, the best part of Stargirl this week comes from the comedy that helps offset some of the intense drama surrounding this show. Beth and Pat's unconventional infiltration of Cindy's house is a definite highlight, and the awkwardness of the whole situation helps make things feel light and enjoyable.

Courtney and her brother having a heart-to-heart is another nice addition, though personally I would have liked to see it continue with multiple episodes to keep this conflicting part of Courtney's double life intact.

Despite this, Stargirl continues to provide enjoyable drama, but halfway through this first season, it remains to be seen what the full extent of the JSA's diabolical plan is.
