The Echo Season 3 Episode No 9 Recap And Review
Episode Recap
For the plan to be successful, they must ensure one thing: the absence of sound. Since it is carried out in the early hours of the day, everyone is mostly asleep. Prince's team is tasked with clearing the way and eliminating possible threats, while Bambi's men will target the holding cell to retrieve Amber. Boal's impeccable grid and foundation ensure that the scenes are tense and showcase the high stakes of the operation.
Prince and his unit are able to neutralize most of the guards. When Bambi reaches the camera, Amber is nowhere to be seen. The team looks around, but to no avail. While Bamgi communicates with Shahzade, the brother and husband react differently to this news. While the former feels like he's been placed elsewhere, the Prince looks defeated. He feels that Amber has been executed, but Bambi convinces him to enlist. The panic button is pressed when the units start firing on the local population and an armored vehicle enters the building.
But since the American units are well trained and demonstrate their professional standards, all this seems very weak. In order to protect themselves, they continue to destroy the natives without harm. Under heavy fire, the Prince sees a cell with women. To his dismay, Amber isn't there either. Trouble awaits the Americans as Graciela and the rebels quickly assess the attack and realize it's for Amber. Big guns are brought out to destroy the Americans. We take a brief break from this war-like situation to focus on the reaction of Violeta and the people of Colombia. Since the American units bear the insignia of the Colombian army, the idea is that it is Venezuela against Colombia.
But the reporter knows it's not true and suspects Bambi and Prince behind the attack. We see more action from the ground as both sides continue to show off their weapons and prowess. Prince tails Graciela, who presumably runs towards where Amber is being held. They may have tips to overcome it, and this gives men new hope. Despite their clever indoctrination, the Americans are discovered by the rebels. Graciela reports that the attackers are not the Colombian army and are something else entirely. Their focus shifted from creating political turmoil to making sure the president and leadership knew Colombia was not involved.
Bambi and OPrince split their duties once again and this time the husband goes to Amber and Bambi is distracted. Graciela is killed in the crossfire and Prince shouts Amber's name to make sure she is there. When Prince arrives on the scene, the smokescreen does its job perfectly and, to his surprise, Amber responds very weakly to his calls. Amber is alert enough to tell OPrince not to bomb the room open because there is gas inside and it could be ignited by an explosion. Instead, they decide to crack it with their own hands and use a sledgehammer to finish the job.
Bambi joins the action and helps the Prince. This hug is so precious to watch and is the defining moment of the season. Amber is still under the influence of drugs and is unable to understand what is happening now. All he knows is that he is safe and his identity and state secrets are still intact.
The trio is able to successfully exit the facility. The mission ends with a rescue and we see the facility blow up after they leave. it is not clear whether the other members of his units survived. But Amber finally comes out and they can relax for a moment.
Episode Review
That's what Mark Boal built. Scorched Earth has shown its full talent in handling such imagery in this genre and it is worth every second. He makes a big impact with Amber's rescue mission, and the pump-up of the last episode certainly worked for Boal here.
Huisman and Evans were incredible. They showed their athleticism and brought a real touch to the rescue. Every department did a first-rate job in this episode. Now we're set for an equally crazy final that will make it difficult for the American trio to get out.
The Venezuelans will fight hard and this will be another close shave for the agency and our heroes.
