Kaleidoscope - The Blue episode Recap And Review
Episode Recap
Leo talks to his crew in confidence, explaining how they must do seven things to bring this man down - and by extension, the warehouse. As Leo himself says, they will thread the needle and finally pull off this big heist.
There are a number of different tasks that need to be done, including getting into the SLS, infiltrating the warehouse, and getting the gears inside. With a three-part safety system, temperature gauges and many other trinkets along the way, it won't be easy.
As we learned again, Roger Salas designed the most secure vault ever created. And this is what Leo intends to achieve. While at a party that night, Leo breaks into Roger's house and breaks into his office. He takes a fingerprint and also puts in eye drops.
In addition, there are problems in the garage. Tensions build between Bob and Stan over Judy, with hot-headed Bob finally confidently deciding that he and Judy will double-cross everyone and steal all the equipment for themselves.
At the party, Roger Salas is encouraged to help the triplets with their $7 billion problem. Stefan is sure he'll find a way to be "useful," which ties in well with Leo and the gang's plans. Speaking of which, Roger receives a mysterious call that night promising that nothing he has is safe, scaring him and encouraging Roger to beef up security at the SLS. However, the distorted voice manages to call there as well and demands a ransom of $4.3 million, which is equal to his net worth.
Roger was scared and headed off to get a doctor's exam for his eyes. That doctor happens to be Stan. He uses a device to scan Roger's face, bringing them one step closer to getting to the SLS. However, during all of this, the back door they used to access the SLS's security system closes and Ava worriedly tells Leo.
Although the latter begins to lose hope, it is not the end of the road as he tries to turn the tide in his favor. It turned out that it was Andrew who demanded the $4.3 million ransom, and not Leo, as we believed.
He blackmails Roger into turning him in, but when Roger leaves, he stages an assassination attempt and kills the man outright, suffocating Andrew with a plastic bag and unable to rat him anymore.
When the focus is off Leo, the latter enters the SLS and manages to leave Roger alone in the steam room. Leo has second thoughts about drowning him and decides to use the impending hurricane to his advantage and stage a heist around it. After all, with New York being hit hard, the authorities decide to evacuate the masses, giving them a route.
As the episode ends, Roger receives a call from Stefan, who reveals that he actually knows about Roger's past and decides to talk after the robbery.
Episode Review
The blue episode of Kaleidoscope is more about the heist itself and the tough security detail they have to try to get through. As a result, the show manages to portray most of its main characters with some of the supporting players like Judy and Bob taking the spotlight for a while.
In addition, Kaleidoscope still struggles story-wise, with some improbable scenarios and a very successful break with this hurricane.
The series also struggles with its characterization, which is very weak for most of the supporting characters. We see a few quips for RJ, but know very little about him. Likewise, Judy is a pawn for Stan and Bob to fight now and outside of some of their masks, nothing. Hopefully we'll see more of them in future seasons, but compared to shows like Prison Break and La Casa De Papel, it doesn't stack up. Andrew's name was ruined earlier in the timeline and with his wife and children gone, Andrew has no choice.
